Jakob ben Luria was born on November 12, 1920, in Schoten. During World War II, he was imprisoned in a Nazi camp for human experiments, which prevented him from completing his studies in religion and physics.

After the war, long-term illnesses ended his work in several high positions. After the last illnes 1969 till 1972, he decided to devote himself entirely to the study of the Word of God. From 1972 to 1983, the year of a serious heart surgery, he gave lectures and held conferences all over Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

Due to a concentration camp syndrome worsened by the surgery, he stayed for two years in the Jewish hospital "Sinai" in Amersfoort. After that, no longer physically able to travel much, he founded the "Jitzak Luria Academy" and began recording his knowledge in writing. After his passing in August 2005, his colleague since 1979 "Abraham den Dunnen" continued the work, developing Jakob ben Luria's writings and especially his oral traditions into books.
